Town Council meetings update

Update at 22 July 2021

Following the changes to Covid-19 restrictions from 19 July, all Town Council meetings will be held in the Town Hall Upper Chamber with no restrictions on numbers attending. However, to assist and comply with our Covid-19 risk assessment, and as we still have some members of the council/staff who are waiting for their second jab and considered vulnerable, we will continue with some of our Covid-19 measures.

If you attend a meeting, please continue to wear your face covering whilst moving around (you can remove when seated), hand sanitise on entry and be mindful of your distancing when approaching others. We recognise that Government guidelines have changed but not all the Town Council team are fully vaccinated.

These measures will remain in place for all upcoming council and committee meetings in July and August.

Your co-operation in keeping everyone safe is appreciated.

Update at 18 June 2021

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 14 June, numbers of the public will continue to be limited at our council and committee meetings until 19 July, with priority given to those who have registered to speak on an item on the agenda. We will continue to observe social distancing and face masks must be worn at all times other than when speaking during the meeting.

The following upcoming meetings will have restricted numbers:

  • Full Council on 22 June at The Fothergill Hall, Spread Eagle Hotel – 10 members of the public permitted.
  • Planning & Environment Committee and Neighbourhood Plan Continuity Committee on 6 July at Thame Town Hall – 6 members of the public permitted at each.

Agendas & Minutes for Town Council meetings can be viewed on our website.

Update at 13 May 2021

Back in April 2020, the Government introduced legislation that allowed councils to hold their meetings virtually until 7 May 2021 in response to the Covid-19 outbreak. Recently, and disappointingly, the Government announced that this legislation would not be extended, and so the Town Council will be returning to face-to-face meetings for its Full Council and committee meetings.

Whilst Covid-19 restrictions are in place and the vaccination programme continues to be rolled out, the Town Council cannot accommodate its Full Council meetings in the Upper Chamber as it is not possible for all Councillors, Officers, speakers, and the public to socially distance.

Therefore, the Town Council’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday 18 May will be held in The Fothergill Hall at the Spread Eagle Hotel. Regrettably, we have to limit the numbers of public attending the meeting to 6, and this will be on a first-come first-served basis with priority given to those who have registered to speak. The agenda can be viewed here.

The Town Council’s Planning & Environment Committee and Neighbourhood Plan Continuity Committee, scheduled for Tuesday 25 May will be held in the Upper Chamber. Numbers will be limited to 4 members of the public and again this will be on a first-come first-served basis, with priority given to those who have registered to speak.

The Council meeting on 22 June 2021 will also be held at The Spread Eagle Hotel. Given the further relaxing of restrictions scheduled on 21 June, we may be able to increase the number of public allowed at the meeting. Look out for more information in our newsletter, website and social media for further details on this and arrangements for our committee meetings from July onwards.
