About the Thame Town Awards
There are people all around Thame who help their neighbours, support local groups or go out of their way for others in their community. That is why in 2009, Thame Town Council launched Thame Town Awards as a way to recognise, thank and celebrate those special people who are working hard to make our community a safer, more vibrant and happier place to live.
Since the Town Awards launched, we have awarded many local individuals, organisations and businesses with a Town Award to acknowledge their contribution to the town.
How it Works
Each year the Town Council invites members of the public to nominate someone in our community who they think deserves some recognition. Anyone can make a nomination, as long as the person or organisation being nominated lives, works or studies in Thame.
There are 6 categories that will be awarded through nominations received and there is 1 Mayor’s award which will be awarded by the Mayor.
You can fill out the online nomination form here or visit the Town Hall Information Centre to pick up a paper copy.
Once your nomination is received it must be validated and will then be counted. Invalid nominations include; nominations with no relation to Thame, nominations made by a family member or people who nominate themselves (excluding the Business of the Year category), nominations for those who have won an award in the past 3 years, nominations for anyone on the panel or any councillors and officers who are nominated in relation to their work with Thame Town Council.
The panel will meet after the nomination period has ended to review the nominees and decide the final winners based on votes, given reasons and validity of the category. The panel decision is final.
The winners will be invited to the Awards night to celebrate and receive their award, where they will be congratulated by the sponsors and Mayor and enjoy a celebratory evening.
