Thame Arts & Literature Festival 2022 – Update

The organisers of the Thame Arts & Literature Festival have issued the following statement with regards to this year’s event:

Thame Arts & Literature Festival

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Supporters,

The last two years have been very difficult for the Festival, and in particular for our very small team. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed presenting last year’s programme, the costs incurred, and the time required to run a hybrid event relative to the audience achieved, caused us to consider carefully the future of our Festival.

Accordingly, we will not be hosting a TAL Festival in October 2022 while we assess what that future might be.

We do intend to put on some events across the year that we believe will be of great interest to the town – so keep an eye on the TAL website and the newsletter for details.

Thank You

Yvonne Maxwell, Festival Director said:

“It has been an amazing journey over the last 12 years as we grew from a few hundred attendees to over 4,000 at our peak, and from a dozen events to over 40.

From the friendly stewards to the technical team, and from each and every visitor to each and every event, I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the support you have given TAL Festival as it grew. My vision of TAL was always of smiling faces and fun times. It has been a joy to have been part of that.”

What does the future hold?

We are investigating possibilities for the festival and are open to suggestions for the future management of the event. We would welcome serious input from individuals and groups in the town who might like to assist with that future.
In the first instance, please send TAL an email to register your interest.

Tales of passion, murder, ghosts and bloody revolution…

In the meantime, we have now released the film The Thame Chroniclesfeaturing Bruce Alexander, which was made last autumn.
It’s huge fun to watch and you can enjoy Thame at its very best. Rent it for 72 hours or download it and keep it forever.
