Age UK winter hub

As we move into the dark and colder winter months, we need to be aware of how we can help the more vulnerable people in our community.

Winter can be tough at any age, but for our older friends it can be challenging due to factors such as additional health risks and rises in prices across food and energy, meaning many go without heat in their homes.

Age UK have brought out an online Winter Hub which includes many different schemes anyone over 16 can apply for, however the priority groups are:

  • Those experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse
  • Families with young children
  • Older people
  • People with longer-term illnesses
  • People with disabilities
  • People with mental health needs
  • Households with a pregnant person

You can also have paper Winter Wellbeing packs which we can post out to you for any older people or groups you support, which contain:

  • An introductory letter
  • Our ‘Little Handbook of our Services’
  • A Live Well Oxfordshire bookmark
  • A Winter Wrapped up Guide (from Age UK)
  • An Oxfordshire Talking Therapies leaflet
  • Our Cost-of-Living Payment Grid

Please get in touch via contactus@ageukoxfordshire.org.uk or 0345 450 1276 if it would be helpful to receive some packs, or any of these items individually.
