Christmas Lights Switch-On 2018

Join the community of Thame from 3:30pm in the town centre for another spectacular Christmas celebration to ring in the festive season on Friday 30 November.

Entertainment
With performances from nine local groups and special guests Rapunzel and Tinkerbell, you’ll be spoilt for choice of entertainment. In front of the Christmas tree you can find performances from Thame Music Academy, Stagecoach, Kiera Gabrielle, Thame Choral Society, Thame Concert Band and Thame Players. If you need to warm up, why not pop into the Masonic Hall for entertainment from Louise Jane Dance and Thame Youth Theatre? Make sure you don’t miss St Joseph’s School Orchestra’s performance on the High Street!

Rides & Attractions
Have you found all 24 runaway reindeer around the town? You’ll be able to see them in real life at the Christmas event, and they’ll be bringing along their sleigh for you to take a photo in. This year will see the return of the Snow Globe, but this time it’s bigger and better with festive props and lighting – a perfect opportunity to grab your friends and family to take a fun group photo! Santa has the date in his diary and will be bringing gifts (for those who have been good!) to his grotto. Children can enjoy a ride on the merry-go-round and try to ‘hook-a-Santa’ to win prizes.

Food & Gift Market
From personalised gifts and Christmas wreaths, to scented candles and children’s clothing – plus competitions, giveaways and fundraisers – and plenty of refreshments, make sure to give the food and gift market a browse and see what you discover! You’ll also find Mulled Wine served by Thame Lions Club and fresh crepes served by Thame & Montesson Twinning Association.

The big switch-on!
Back for the sixth year is the truly spectacular lantern parade in collaboration with Thame Primary Schools that will include beautiful card lanterns crafted by local printer, Windles Group. The parade this year will be led by the 594 Thame Squadron Air Cadets.

Join the countdown outside the Town Hall as the Mayor helps our lucky Runaway Reindeer town trail winner push the plunger on the town’s Christmas lights at 7pm. You will then need to warm up your vocal chords for some carol singing, accompanied by Thame Concert Band, to round off the evening.

We hope to see you there from 3:30pm for an evening of wonderful Christmas entertainment in Thame. Make sure to follow the Facebook page ‘Christmas in Thame’ for the latest updates.

Thank you to our sponsors ASM Auto Recycling, Kubota, Lucy Electric, Connect Scaffolding, Risborough Carers, JJ Plumbing & Heating, Fisher German, 3B Vehicle Hire, Thame & District Housing Association and Windles Group, and to everyone who helps make this event happen each year.
