Thame to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style!

Beacon Lighting

Thursday 2 June – 8.30pm – 10.00pm (road closure in force between 6.00pm – 11.00pm)

Please join us outside the Town Hall from 8.30pm on Thursday 2 June when the event will start with performances by Thame Concert Band and Thame Choral Society. The beacon will be lit at 9.45pm and the event will end with the singing of the National Anthem. Beacons will be lit at more than 1500 locations throughout the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories to celebrate the Queen’s long and selfless service.

In addition, the church bells at St Mary’s will be rung from 19.52 (7.52pm) until 20.22 (8.22pm) on Thursday 2nd June 2022.

Sports in the Street

Friday 3 June – 6.00pm – 9.00pm (road closure in force 6.00pm – 9.00pm)

This free event in the town centre organised by MP Sports Cricket Academy brings people together to enjoy a variety of live sport demonstrations and activities, encouraging people to try out new sports and maybe join a new club.

Thame Carnival

Saturday 4 June – from 12.00pm (rolling road closure in force whilst the parade moves between Elms Park and Southern Road Recreation Ground)

The carnival returns this year with  a ‘Queen’s Platinum Jubilee’ theme. The parade starts at Elms Park, passes through the town centre and finishes at Southern Road recreation ground where there will be a traditional fete with live music, food and drinks, bouncy castle, children’s rides and much more. All proceeds go to Lord Williams’ School Young Carers, Thame Guides and Thame Senior Friendship Centre.

Thame Players’ Jubilations

Saturday 4 June at 7.45pm

Thame Players will perform their own unique celebration of the remarkable 70 year reign of HM Queen Elizabeth II. It takes the form of a revue, marking significant milestones in the Queen’s long career with songs, sketches, facts and figures that highlight her amazing achievements, including her wartime role, accession and coronation, and her various jubilees over the years. Thame and District Round Table Duck Race

Sunday 5 June – 11.00am

Join Captain Ducky and his pirate crew and see thousands of rubber ducks being poured into the River Thame from the Old Long Crendon Road bridge. Numbered tickets corresponding to individual ducks can be purchased for £2.00 each from www.duckrace.thameroundtable.org, at the carnival fete, or on the day.
