Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of VJ Day

On Saturday 15 August 2020 at 10.30 am Thame Town Council streamed a live memorial service from the War Memorial Gardens to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VJ Day (Victory in Japan Day). This day marks an important event in World War 2 – the day Japan surrendered to the Allies after almost six years of war on 15 August 1945, heralding the end of the Second World War.

There was no advanced publicity for the event in order to ensure that it could run safely, meeting all relevant Covid-19 restrictions. However you can watch the event via the Town Council’s Facebook Page as it was live-streamed.
