Thame’s new Christmas Lights are switched-on!

Thame’s brand new Christmas lights were switched-on on Friday 6 December 2019. Santa came to visit his Grotto (with gifts for those who’ve been good!) – he even brought two of his Reindeer, which visitors could feed and pet. A miniature steam train offered rides throughout the evening too. The Mayor, Cllr Ann Midwinter and the Town Trail winner, 8 year-old Lilia, pushed the plunger on the lights! If you took part in the Town Trail, you can now view the Town Trail answers.

As well as brilliant performers and a fantastic selection of refreshments and gift stalls, visitors enjoyed free nativity crafts and face painting in the Masonic Hall kindly provided by Grace Church, and enjoyed meeting our special guests Anna & Elsa from Frozen and Spiderman.

Thame Primary School’s proudly paraded their beautiful lanterns through the town, led by Santa and his Sleigh. As always it was a spectacular sight – well done to all the children and their families who took part in the workshops and the parade. The lantern parade was generously sponsored by Thame Cars this year.

Crowds gathered around the tree (generously sponsored by ASM Auto Recycling) to enjoy carol singing and a blessing from Pastor Anthony Taylor, Grace Church. Alongside Santa, the Mayor Cllr Ann Midwinter, welcomed on stage town trail winner Lilia to push the plunger on the town’s Christmas Lights!
