Christmas is coming…

Thame’s Annual Christmas Light Switch-on event will take place this year on Friday 6th December.

The event officially kicks off at 4pm when Santa returns to his Grotto. Once again he is bringing two adorable reindeer that visitors to the event can feed and pet. His authentic sleigh will be available for those all-important family festive photo opportunities – so make sure you have your best Christmas jumpers on! There will be a wonderful opportunity to take a ride on a festive train up and down the town centre of this gorgeous market town; Children’s characters available for you to meet; Nativity crafts and face-painting; Children’s rides and more.

The iconic Lantern Parade will once again lead up to the main Christmas lights being switched-on at 6.30pm by the winner of this year’s Town Trail and the Mayor, Cllr Ann Midwinter. To be in with a chance of winning, look out for this year’s Town Trail competition, running from 12th November.

The event carries on until 7.30pm, promising to offer a fun night out for everyone, with indoor and outdoor entertainment from local performance groups; craft and gift stalls a plenty; not to mention the fantastic range of refreshments available including mulled wine, cocktails, hot chocolate, freshly-made pizza, German sausages, street food from around the world and more.

So get your Christmas Jumpers ready, pick up a warming cup of mulled wine, and get ready to join in Thame’s community spirit, in 10…9…8…7…
