There’s nothing quite like listening to and watching jazz played live by top class musicians and the hugely popular Italian ace saxophonist Tommaso Starace is one of the exciting exponents of the alto sax. A regular at jazz clubs throughout Europe, Tommaso plays with absolute conviction and real Italian passion!
Our first show at ‘Jazzin’ Thame’ will celebrate arguably one of the most influential sax players in history – Julian Edwin “Cannonball” Adderley. Performing with Tommaso this evening will be a trio of great distinction: Pianist Frank Harrison is an award winning musician who toured for 20 years as music director, with the hugely popular saxophonist Gilad Atzmon and is now much in demand as a player in his own right. With powerful harmonic language paired with a beautifully delicate touch, it’s no small wonder that Frank is vaunted as one of the finest in the UK. Bassist Paul Jefferies (insert www.pauljefferies.com) can ‘lay it down’ with the best of them, but he also produces wonderfully melodic lines, all wrapped in a great sense of time and rhythm. Drummer Chris Nickolls works in multiple musical spheres: pop, classical, folk, electronica, film score – but he is foremost, a wonderfully propulsive jazz player who has worked extensively with the cream of jazz, including Jason Rebello, Andy Sheppard, Randy Brecker and Frank Sinatra Jnr.
