Jazz violin and vocals that fizz with virtuosic jazzy fun……
Ben Holder (https://www.benholdermusic.co.uk/) now performs throughout Europe and beyond to rapturous applause and critical acclaim – so when he gets back to the UK, it’s a treat to catch him performing in smaller, intimate venues like Burford Jazz. Ben was classically trained from a very young age but his journey into the jazz world started in parallel with his classical studies, when he was just 12 years old, gigging with school jazz ensembles and soon after that at pubs and clubs around his midlands home town of Burton-upon-Trent, with some of the finest names in traditional and swing jazz. His concerts combine nods to Hot Club of Paris (with the inevitable comparisons with Stephane Grappelli), the soloing interpretations of Benny Goodman and the classical sensibilities of Oscar Peterson. Add to the mix a bluesy vocal, with great phrasing and just a hint of gravel: the fabulous jazz guitar mastery of Jez Cook; propulsive double bass from Paul Jefferies and the inventiveness of drummer Nick Millward and you have a quartet that will thill and enthral in equal measure.
