Many in the UK jazz world testify to the claim that Robert Fowler (https://www.functionjunction.co.uk/act/robert-fowler) is quite possibly one of the top handful of great tenor saxophonists this country has produced. His tone is rich and muscular, phrasing always full of meaning and his command of harmony right up there with the very best. He has – as they say – ‘paid his dues’ performing in horn sections with great bands like the Pasadena Rood Orchestra, The Syd Lawrence Orchestra and the BBC Big Band. To quote the respected Observer’s jazz critic Dave Gelly “(his) tone it’s always broad, warm and juicy, a perfect fit for his calm, measured phrasing”. So we are truly delighted to have Robert in concert at JazzIn’ Thame performing two sets of music that you’ll know and love from the Great American Songbook together with Jonathan Taylor (piano) (https://www.jonathantaylormusic.com/), Paul Jefferies (double bass) and local drumming hero Ben Twyford.
