Christmas in Thame starts here!

If you are a Thame resident you have hopefully received your ‘Christmas in Thame’ booklet, however if not, there are some copies available to pick up from the Information Centre in the Town Hall.
Community Christmas Thame
This fabulous initiative run by volunteers, aims to provide a Christmas Day lunch for the isolated and vulnerable in Thame. Due to the generosity of the Thame Lodges, this year’s event will be held at the Masonic Hall. To join either as a guest, or as a volunteer, please call 07885 911200, or pick up a form from the Information Centre.
1st Thame Scouts Christmas card delivery service – 25 November – 9 December
The post boxes will arrive at the Town Hall, Chocolate Box and Library on 25 November. This is a free service for the elderly and less able in Thame and Moreton, however if you would like to make a donation please pop it into an envelope and leave it in the box.
March of the penguins – Thursday 1 December – Thursday 22 December
This year Thame’s primary school children have been given printed cards of penguins to decorate, kindly donated by Windles as part of a community art installation in the library.
Post a letter to Santa – Friday 25 November – Sunday 18 December
Santa has set up a special post box in The Book House. Download a letter template from the Red Kite Family Centre website or collect one from the Book House or RKFC and make a suggested donation of £5.00 if you are able to. Post it into Santa’s post box and wait for the elves to deliver a letter to you!
Penguin search – Thursday 1 December – Monday 19 December
Hidden in businesses in the town centre are 24 mini penguins and 1 big one! If you find them all then enter the competition to be in with a chance of winning vouchers generously donated by ASM worth £100.00, £75.00, £50.00 or £25.00! Enter online at https://www.thametowncouncil.gov.uk/community/christmas/or hand in your answers on a piece of paper including your name and contact details to the Information Centre in the Town Hall.
Shop window display – Thursday 1 December – Monday 19 December
While you’re out shopping, take a look at the gorgeous window displays created by our local businesses. Vote for your favourite window display at https://www.thametowncouncil.gov.uk/community/christmas/ to give the team the chance of winning one of two hampers. Huge thanks go to ASM who have generously funded this competition.
Penguin selfie station – Friday 2 December – Monday 19 December
From 2 December a penguin selfie station generously sponsored by Thame Cars will be outside the Town Hall, so why not come along and take a photo to share with family and friends. Upload your photo to the Christmas in Thame Facebook page to be in with a chance of winning some goodies.
The light switch-on event – Friday 2 December – from 4.30pm
17 High Street invite you into their magical elves and reindeer grotto which is raising money for Thame Foodbank.
Santa’s grotto and gift fair – Saturday 3 December – 10.00am – 4.00pm
Santa will be setting up his grotto in the Town Hall with the help of some Round Table elves, kindly supported by Lucy Electric so bring the children down to see him and receive a small gift. There will be a suggested donation with all proceeds going towards Thame Round Table. Upstairs in the Town Hall will be a Christmas gift fair featuring lots of local independent small businesses and outside will be a chocolate tombola and mulled wine stall.
Santa Fun Run – Sunday 4 December – 10.00am
Invictus Gym have teamed up with Thame Youth Projects to bring you a fun filled Santa run. On 4 December go to Invictus Fitness Centre to start your instructor led warm up before the fun run begins at 10.00am. Expect carols and lots of festive fun along the route and spectators can enjoy hot drinks and festivities at Invictus where the gym will also be running an open day for you to look around and try out the gym free of charge.
