Spread Eagle sign

We’re aware that the temporary traffic lights outside The Spread Eagle Hotel are causing some traffic issues in the town centre. The historic signpost outside the hotel was damaged recently, so the lights are necessary in the interests of public safety and to protect the sign from further damage.

We do not know how long the temporary lights will be required for; however, it is likely they will be there until the sign can be repaired or removed, which is the responsibility of The Spread Eagle Hotel and their insurers. The Town Council is in contact with the owners who are working hard to get the sign repaired as soon as possible. As the sign is listed and privately owned, no other organisation can take responsibility for its repair.
