Highlights from Last Week’s Council Meetings

Highlights from the Corporate Governance Committee meeting on 3 February 2026 included:
The committee received a financial update which included the Investment performance. The committee discussed the investment management contract and agreed to award Company A the 4-yearly investment management contract.
The committee resolved to approve updates to the Display Screen Equipment policy, Business Continuity Action Plan and Business Continuity Strategy.
Highlights from the Full Council meeting on 3 February 2026 included:
Members considered the planning application P25/S4009/D for the proposed demolition of buildings at 47 Aylesbury Road; Cllrs agreed to raise concerns to SODC regarding matters of neighbouring amenity, highways and ecology.
Members considered the planning application P25/S3631/O outline planning application for the construction of up to 70 age-restricted dwellings at land to the east of Howland Road (B4012) and south of Kingsey Road. Cllrs agreed to object to the planning application.
Members considered planning application P26/S0071/FUL and agreed that the Town Council have no strong views on this application.
