New hedge planting at Nontron Meadows

The hedge planting at Nontron Meadows was carried out on 28 January 2026 by the Cuttle Brook volunteers. They planted hawthorn and some dog roses to add connectivity along the edges of this flower rich meadow. Some of the hedge was planted on the bank at the Oxford Road end of the existing hawthorn hedge, with a second stretch a couple of metres into the field from the Spring Path. A wood chip mulch was spread to reduce competition from grasses and nettles which they hope will aid the growth of the hedging.

They hope to plant more hedges at our workparty on Sunday 15th February when they meet at 10am at the scout hut car park in Southern Road – new volunteers would be welcomed and training given!
