Latest Town Council meeting update

Highlights from the Full Council meeting on 2 December 2025 include:
 

  • Update from Thame Senior Friendship Centre. The Thame Senior Friendship Centre, a local charity established in 1986, provides a welcoming space for older individuals through its Friendship Centre. Open three days a week, it offers refreshments and a variety of engaging activities. In addition, the charity runs the Memories Café twice a week, a warm and supportive environment for people living with dementia and their carers in our community.   • Updates received on Thame Strategy, Community & Youth Centre Project, Town Centre high speed internet infrastructure, and flooding.
  • Approved the date and venue of the Annual Town Meeting which will be held on Wednesday 18 March 2026 in the Upper Chamber at the Town Hall. 
  • The Town Council gave consent to Thame Football Club to submit a planning application for two brand-new padel courts on their site. The club will lead the entire project, including public consultation, planning, and funding. Once completed, these courts will be available for community use
  • Thame Town Council discussed the proposed changes at Thame Fire Station, as outlined in Oxfordshire County Council’s consultation on improving the Fire & Rescue Service. A formal response to object to the removal of the second fire engine proposed to Thame will be submitted by the Council before the consultation closes on 20 January 2026.  We encourage all Thame and surrounding village residents to review the proposals and share respond with views.   • Discussed planning application amendment P23/S4262/FUL at Land North of Oxford Road, the council resolved to support subject to comments.
