Update on Wellington Street

Update from Thame’s Water

As you may be aware we’ve identified a defect within our foul water sewer. Due to the health and safety of the members of public and our engineers we’ve closed this section of the road. 

We have taken corrective measures to fix the defect. Works are progressing well and have installed an over-pumping set-up to facilitate our next stage of works. The next phase will be demolition and then re-building of the chamber. Due to the difficult ground conditions in the area we should have this phase of works completed by 19th December.

During our investigation works, we found some damage to our asset slightly further along Wellington St towards North St. We have agreed with Oxfordshire County Council to remobilise w/c 5th January until 6th February to carry out the demolition and re-build of this chamber, as well as some lining works to future-proof our asset.

We plan to do a leaflet drop in the area in mid-December to confirm the dates for Phase 2 of the works.
