The Christmas Light Switch On tomorrow!

Join us for our annual Christmas Lights Switch On tomorrow from 4pm-7pm, as we light up the town for Christmas!

Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, pop down to the Town Hall to let Santa know what you’d like for Christmas, listen to some music while you wait, and receive a small present, all thanks to Lucy Electric. 

Festive Activities

Grab a colouring sheet from the Library or Town Hall and get creative. Take your finished design to the Library for it to be displayed over Christmas.

Scout Postal Service Returns

27th November 2025

1st Thame Scout Group will once again offer a Christmas Card delivery service for senior citizens and the less able of Thame. The Scouts will cover Thame, Moreton and Towersey.

Look out for the post boxes arriving at Thame Town Hall, Glynswood, The Chocolate Box, and Thame Library from Friday 28th November with the final collection on Friday 12th December.

Reverse Advent Calendar

Town Hall closed next Thursday morning

The Town Hall will be closed on Thursday 4 December from 9am -12pm, due to staff training. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Changes proposed for Thame Fire Station

Oxfordshire County Council are consulting on proposed changes to the Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service. In Thame, the proposal is to reduce the number of fire engines from 2 to 1. The consultation document explains how this fits into the wider plans to improve Oxfordshire’s fire service.

Update on Wellington Street

27th November 2025

As you may be aware we’ve identified a defect within our foul water sewer. Due to the health and safety of the members of public and our engineers we’ve closed this section of the road. 

We have taken corrective measures to fix the defect. Works are progressing well and have installed an over-pumping set-up to facilitate our next stage of works. The next phase will be demolition and then re-building of the chamber.

Community Christmas

Household rubbish can only be collected if bin lids are fully closed

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils are reminding residents that crews can only empty household wheelie bins if the lids are fully closed lids.

Temporary Road Closure and No Waiting – Tiddington, A40 London Road

In the interests of public safety, it will be necessary for Oxfordshire County Council to close the road and impose a ‘No Waiting’ restriction to facilitate pre-surfacing dressing works 
 
The temporary closure will operate on 04 December 2025 between 07:30 and 16:30
