Counterfeit £10 & £20 Banknotes in Thame

Thame Town Council has been made aware that counterfeit £10 & £20 banknotes have been circulating in the town centre. Business owners and shoppers need to be vigilant and check any money received.

The Bank of England says people trying to use counterfeit banknotes will often try to buy a low-value item using a high-value note such as a £20 note. This is so that they can get away, not only with a businesses stock, but also money from their till.
