Theatres Trust helps Thame Players get greener

Thame Players have just been awarded a grant through the Theatres Trust Small Grants Programme supported by The Linbury Trust, as part of a programme of environmentally friendly improvements planned for the Players Theatre, Thame’s only dedicated theatre and cinema venue.

The grant-funded project will contribute towards the cost of replacing an outdated and inefficient air conditioning unit with a much more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly system, involving the installation of three new units and a compressor. The new units will be cheaper and more efficient to run, helping to reduce overheads and improving the operation of the theatre year-round for several years into the future.

Thame has adopted a Green Living Plan, a ten-year plan with 192 actions that will enable Thame to progress towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future, the aim of which is to engage the town’s communities and businesses in becoming greener. Thame Players are committed to becoming greener in line with the plan and the environmentally friendly air conditioning units form part of their mission to ensure the theatre is sustainable for future generations.
