Public awareness advice

Thame’s Neighbourhood Police Team have recently encountered persons begging in a number of areas in Thame; Greyhound Walk and outside Sainsbury’s and Lightfoots Solicitors.

The individuals are predominantly male (female on the rare occasion) who present as homeless and beg for money with a sign in front of them. Thames Valley Police recognise that these individuals are not presenting as genuinely homeless and are part of a well-known organised crime group throughout the UK.

If you wish to donate money, please do so by donating to a reputable charity.

Should you encounter a person presenting themselves as homeless and begging, please consider this may not be genuine and contact the police on 101 or report it online through the Thames Valley Police website.
