October Fair cancelled

At the Town Council meeting on Tuesday 22 September 2020 Councillors reluctantly voted to cancel this year’s October Charter Fair. The health and well-being of Thame’s residents is paramount and Councillors felt that the event would not be compatible with the increased pandemic alert level and social distancing requirements. Despite the significant efforts of the Guild it was not thought possible to hold the Fair safely in a town centre street environment under current circumstances. The Council do, however, recognise the tradition and honour of the Charter Fair and agreed to cooperate with the Guild in enabling a token gesture to preserve their continuing rights under the Royal Charter.
